Since 2020, my affinity for reading Hindi literature, particularly modern Hindi poetry, has grown exponentially. During this journey, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the captivating collection of poems penned by Asha Seth, titled “Deodar Ke Phool.” Just as Shri Ramdhari Singh (Dinkar) beautifully stated “Kavita Shabd nahi, shanti hain; kolahal nahi, moun hai,” poetry signifies inner peace amidst the battle of thoughts within the mind, where every thought aims like a weapon and the heart becomes a shield; “Deodar Ke Phool” by Asha Seth is an enchanting compilation of Hindi poems that leaves readers spellbound with its heartfelt verses.

Asha Seth, the poet, masterfully delves into the beautiful harmony between external and internal emotional realms. She also demonstrates an incredible talent for crafting words that delve into the depths of love, the intricacies of relationships, the dynamics with our parents, the intricate tapestry of uncertainties and questions within our minds, the longing, and the nostalgic moments. Asha Seth‘s words offer a deeply moving experience. Her relatable, pragmatic, and unpretentious writing style beautifully amplifies the essence of each poem. The grayscale photographs accompanying some of the poems further enrich the reading experience. The comfortable font size and high-quality pages also helped my reading journey.

For individuals seeking comfort, a sense of belonging, and a revitalized understanding of the splendor found in both everyday and exceptional life instances, this collection is a compulsory read.
