My Thoughts:
Self-help books are those souls that travel with us in times of personal turmoil and console us like our friends. Though there is a quite mockery amongst some readers about these books, they always turn out to be helpful. The pandemic year 2020 gave writers and authors a great opportunity to explore new horizons on human life and mental health. The loss of their loved ones, jobs, opportunities and many deaths around has had many people force themselves into a gush of stress and fear. But as the saying goes, books are the best friends; self-help books were the only friends. At this juncture, I also happened to read a few books last year and this year. Once I started reading, there were signs from the destiny to pick up more books on self-help, spirituality, and philosophy. After Life Quotes by Pemmaraju, I soon found myself reading this engrossing yet scintillating book. Read on to know what I think about Heena Talwar Sadana’s – Zindagi, Ek Nayi Disha gave me!

Beautiful Introductory Paragraph
Though most of the books have an introduction, it is written in a general tone and tense. But in this book, the assurance that the author gives about the takeaways from the book is beautiful. She says, whenever you feel low or life crisis, embrace this book and read at least one part a day, and it will transform your mood and will inspire you. It is almost a friend talking to you.

About the book:

Inside the book:
With an interesting section dedicated to credits, a letter from the author’s father, and the author’s introduction, the book starts with a positive feeling.  The book has 35 chapters that are short, effective and inspiring to read. The first and foremost chapter explaining what life is is an important piece to be discussed about. In a poetic format, with good rhyming and rich vocabulary, author Heena grabs the reader’s attention. In the middle of the poem, the below lines attracted me a lot.
ज़िन्दगी एक मेला है,
जिसमें तू अकेला है!
आया है दुनिया में सबके साथ,
पर जाना है लेकर खाली हाथ!

Apart from the above lines, those musings, life lessons, experiences, incidents and situations that every one of us have faced in life are discussed. There are some places in the chapters where the readers will ponder over their memory lane and rethink some decisions. Reminiscing the past won’t change what has happened but will definitely give us a chance to correct ourselves. This is what exactly the chapters in the book do.

Final Thoughts:
Written in simple and understandable language, this book by Heena Talwar Sadana is an interesting read to rethink the past and plan the future with new and positive energy.
